THE SIMPSONS MOVIE (2007) *** I love the series and I wasn't disappointed. It has more than a few moments of that random improbable genius (Matt Groening understands Freud on improbability being the heart of humor), an absurdly overblown plot for the big screen, and an underlying philosophical balance of cynicism, idealism, redemption and carnival motorcycles. Is it all about Homer? Mainly, but every episode has to focus somewhere. Homer as a superhero fits parts of the bill, and Homer as a self-indulgent loafer.makes it, ah, real. Homer makes you feel good about yourself, not least because if he has that in him, you must have something in you. The treatment of Grandpa's epiphany is absolutely glorious, and you always knew that there had to be something about Flanders that would appeal to cool people.
