HOME ALONE 3 (1992) **1/2 Contrary to its reputation, this is the best of the Home Alone movies. Yeah, ok, it follows the formula closely, so if you're looking for historic value you probably want to go with the original, but.what the hell are you doing looking for historic value in a Home Alone movie anyway? Alex D. Linz may not have quite the charisma quotient of Macaulay Culkin, but he was a way better idea of how to deal with the North Koreans-and terrorists generally-than the Bush administration. Alex is cool but let's face it, he couldn't have done it without the terrorists. I would readily cast Olek Krupa and Rya Kilstedt as terrorists in a hardcore terrorist flick, and David Thornton in a spoof of any sort. So, yes, it's just Home Alone all over again, but John Hughes has taken the time to figure out some really nice routines, and it's nice to think that someone competent is looking after national security.
