BLANK CHECK (1994) *1/2 It's difficult to see how anyone might have had any hope for this. A little kid without much going on gets a blank check from a mobster, now all his dreams can come true. Or can they? Money doesn't buy…it buys a bunch of stuff, that that's it, stuff. Down the stretch they consider a pale imitation of Home Alone to be high gear. With different actors-and I mean a bunch of 'em-it could have been substantially better, but it would have to have been a roving gang of geniuses to be much good. Tone Loc's ok, too laid back for his role, which is a relief considering the target demographic. It's passable I guess, it doesn't ask much from you beyond the suspension of credibility, and doesn't promise anything that you'd be upset if it didn't deliver.
