MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE (1987) *1/2 A drowning bankrupt's Star Wars. Dolph Lundgren is He-man, and he has really big pec's so it should be his show, but he somehow manages to get overshadowed by literally every single other entity in the cast. Full of obnoxious creatures with bizarre hair-do's, and strange uniforms, horrendous skeletal arrangements, and intellects bordering on sub-protozoan...and that's before you even get to Courteney Cox. They wanted to make it really rock 'n roll, so they focused on the electronic keyboard, you get the idea. Chelsea Field won the coveted role of Teela, replete with uniform straps to accentuate, but struggles when offered a line. For all that it's a little bit funny, Meg Foster is typecast as Evil-Lyn (no she's not), and some of the sets are almost as good as what the local high school prodigies would have come up with for $5. Inferior to the animated.
