WHAT DREAMS MAY COME (1998) *** They need to make more movies like this. It should be, at absolute least, a genre. Ambitious, meaningful, hopeful, heroic in the most classic sense of the word. Experimental; the sets were extraordinary-worthy of Oscars in categories invented just for them. There were moments of extreme brilliance and illumination. Robin Williams is capable of acting at the utmost levels. In spite of all this a few scenes drag it down; too much Hollywood in spite of the rebel attitude, lack of editing in very brief spots that desperately needed it, leaving a face gesture that puts the scene too over the top just when it got right there.
