VERTIGO (1958) *** A carousel of turning heads. Works standard Hitchcock themes of psychodrama, mystery, and romance. As usual romance gets short shrift but that's ok. It's great that Jimmy Stewart lasted into the color era, so that we get a better dosage of his eyes. He's also really good at losin' it. The Kim Novak role is a great one and she's up to it at several points, particularly early in the film. San Francisco is shot very nicely. Finishes strong.
