THE THING FROM ANOTHER WORLD (1951) * The moral: only electricity can save us from plants. This thing (the film, not the pathetic excuse for a space creature) goes on like a boring dinner guest desperately trying to be clever, but who won't drink. The acting is adequate, and occasionally the dialogue registers something amusing (usually at the expense of the military), but it's so monotone that colorization couldn't affect it in the slightest. Coulda been much better with a little juice-"Oh shit! There's a fucking giant violent carrot from another planet that just ate the dogs and now it's gonna draculate the igloo like a snowcone." But no. Just, "An intellectual carrot. The mind boggles."
