ONE HOUR PHOTO (2002) * I have to admit that I'm prejudiced against films whose entire purpose is to make you sick. It must be clarified that sick is different than scared. If they're brilliantly executed, or otherwise have some redeeming value, my prejudice can be overcome. Here they present a superficial tale with no plot, designed to make you sick, then glue a moralistic concluding statement onto the end, just to let you know that they're really concerned. Robin Williams is superficial as the paper-thin character, which means that he's more than adequate for the role; but that the role is entirely inadequate for him. The entire film is a rant against dull, ugly, boring, lonely people: watch out! Not only are they dull, reason enough to avoid them to the point of rudeness, but they might freak out and...and...and do horrid, horrid things. So don't pay any attention to the dull and ugly! And that includes tax breaks. Reinhold Heil and Johnny Klimek's's soaring score would work well with a film that had generated some momentum on its own. Anyway it's good enough that it can add a small amount of drama to a chase scene in a parking lot.
