AGATHA CHRISTIE'S POIROT: THE ABC MURDERS (2000) ** They do a good job of imitating the author's ability to draw your attention to hopelessly obvious facts and then play games. David Suchet's moustache, at least, is perfect, and there's reason to believe that he's just what Ms Christie had in mind. The problem with making murder mysteries that are more cerebral than gut-wrenching is that no one may care. And then, if the detective is as unsympathetic as Suchet's Poirot, they may go to sleep. Not badly made, not badly conceived, nicely realized in aspects, but neither cerebral enough to confound in any meaningful way nor entertaining enough to compensate. You mainly just want them to get done with it, though you're interested enough to wonder what happens.
