THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA (2006) *1/2 This ain't evolution, this is genocide… Nice Office Age Cinderella story where Cinderella finally realizes she's a toad. And turns good, or will she? Oh wow, but to be fair it's a chick flick for teenagers so I'm about 30 years and a gender removed from the target audience. My teenager daughters like it. They're amazed at the radical idea that someone might hit the bright lights and find something missing. I like Meryl Streep. She's often great, and she's not much less here. I particularly applaud her choice of who should sit next to her after her divorce-now that's a well dressed man. Actually, all of the acting is good; Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt, Adrian Grenier, they all do good jobs. It's just that Anne's character is such a well-meaning and over-educated lummox, and so inevitably her story is so stupid. You mean…if you let people always tell you what to do you may not get what you want!?! What a fucking surprise. And this from the civilization that invented aspirin.
