ENCHANTED (2007) **1/2 Fairytale composite of Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella, Bob & Carol & Ted & Alice, and King Kong, among others. I think my very favorite part is the acrobatic construction workers. Amy Adams just carries it and makes it special, she looks right, she acts just perfectly too much, and she has an infectious sense of what's very funny (and fun) about it all. But aren't we all born into this world from a fairy tale; and without true love's kiss are we not a void, a drumless ear before that most splendid cacophony of trumpets? Are our senses not strewn like pointless metaphors in a Sylvia Plath poem? A little light shining down through, from that world. No point urging sympathetic hearts of the world to unite, because...[sniffle]...we already have. Basking forever, in the warm glow aftermath...of true love's kiss.
