DARJEELING LIMITED (2007) *** I'm not sure when it happened or started to happen, I guess it was inevitable considering that it took place in India (where everyone knows that they're from), but with all the Ravi Shankar sitar I started thinking about everything, referencing and relating everything...in terms of the Beatles. (Can you imagine John singing the line from the Peter Sarstedt about the girl's Rolling Stones records?) The barefoot guy in the hotel, the three of them walking together, nothing quite fits and that's the way...I don't know if that's the way he wants it, but that's the way Wes Anderson finds it. He's got that family dynamic thing, that dysfunctional one like they almost all really are, and when you think he's magnifying it then you realize that he's just condensing it so you don't have to watch a 70 year movie to get the end of the blunt instrument properly. Thanks, but I'm in the movie anyway schmoltzskoid! Ha ha, let's have a smoke and laugh about it.
