APRIL FOOL'S DAY (1986) * There's this rich girl named Muffy, and she has a secret twin named Buffy...it doesn't get any better. A singularly dull set of characters wander aimlessly through one of the dullest epochs in American history with bad hairdos and stupid clothes, entirely unable to generate a conversation on any topic bordering on subject matter in any way worthy of interest of any sort. They tape their robes to their bodies when they lean out the window in the morning and are unable to appear witty or even drunk despite nearly continuous drinking throughout. The shots of Vancouver are nice but the actors keep getting in the way and doing dumb stuff. Technically a horror movie, for reasons that are never especially clear, but the most horrifying thing about it is when you realize that you've watched almost the entire thing and thereby have little choice but to ride it through to the bitter end. You'll be sorry if you do.
